Uniersity of Charleston - Charlie West Fest Half Marathon & 5K

Charleston, WV - University of Charleston

April 18, 2020- 8:00 AM

Half Marathon

The UC Half Marathon and 5K are very flat courses. You will find yourself running along the Kanawha River as well as through beautiful neighborhoods. It is a very scenic run with plenty of fluid/nutrition stations and bathrooms throughout. Also, please be aware this is a two loop course, so those running the half marathon will be running two loops - the first loop is slightly longer than the second and you will be running on some of the same roads in each of the loops. We have volunteers with signs directing you the entire way.

Charity Information

Our running events have become a vehicle for reinvestment in students. In a time of shallow pockets, we have been able to use race proceeds to reinvest in student development. Through race proceeds, we were able to sponsor a number of students to attend the CreateWV conference to learn about and explore strategies to grow the state economically and socially. In addition, the University of Charleston Honors College has sponsored humnaitraian relief efforts in collaboration with the American Red Cross in Puerto Rico. We hope to continue these efforts as our programs expand in the future.

More Information

Of course, this year our goal is to have even more runners complete our events! But, even more than that, we are growing our race to expand into a post-race lunch and community Appalachian Festival. We will be featuring our local culture through local music, beer and food, crafts, and activities. This will be a fun event for the whole family – a way to expand our runner base to include fellowship beyond the runner community.
