Morgantown, WV - Morgantown, WV- Deckers Creek Rail-Trail

June 6, 2020- 8:30 AM

13.1 miles

With a sad heart, the Mon River Trails Conservancy has decided to cancel the 2020 Deckers Creek Trail Half-Marathon.

In what has been a continually evolving and challenging time, we recognize that the cancellation may come as a disappointment. We do hope that we will be through the worst of this health crisis and looking at brighter times for 2021. For those of you that are familiar with this event, it is clear we could not host the same event without the generous donations of food from sponsoring restaurants and funding from community businesses that offset the costs of this race. We are a part of our community and could not ask those getting hit hard economically to sponsor this event.

All registered participants for the Deckers Creek Trail Half-Marathon have some options on your registration fee:
1)     Please consider offering this registration as a donation to the Mon River Trails Conservancy and the local rail-trails. This race is the Mon River Trails Conservancy's largest fund-raiser for the Mon River and Deckers Creek Rail-Trails and your donations keep the trails open and maintained!
2)    OR you can transfer this race registration to a new fund-raiser called the Imagination Running Wild Challenge.  You will have free entry to a fun adventure with games and quizzes on all 48 miles of the Mon River Rail-Trails (June-Dec. 2020)-  you can walk, bike or run or any combination of uses, at your own pace, to reach the goal.  We hope to open registration to this event in a few weeks.
3)    OR we will refund your registration by mailing you a check and hope that we will see you at next years Deckers Creek Trail Half-Marathon.  Please let us know by July 31, if we do not hear from you by then, we will treat your registration fee as a donation to the Mon River Trails Conservancy.
If you have additional questions, please contact Ella.

Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to seeing you when we can gather again at the next Deckers Creek Trail Half-Marathon.

We wish you all good health,
Deckers Creek Trail Half-Marathon Team

Charity Information

MRTC is a non-profit 501c3 volunteer organization founded in 1991 to develop and manage 43 miles of the 51-mile Mon River and Deckers Creek Rail-Trail System.  Currently, 48 miles of the Mon River / Caperton / Deckers Creek Rail-Trail network are complete and maintained for non-motorized use, primarily walking, cycling, running, and cross-country skiing with a smooth, durable surface. Our goal is to maintain the trails to the highest standards possible. Your funds help make this possible.

The Deckers Creek Trail Half Marathon is a fund-raising event and all proceeds help maintain the Mon River and Deckers Creek Rail-Trails.  Donations are also greatly appreciated. Help us; you have a great trail system to enjoy. This very moment, MRTC is trying to raise funds for resurfacing sections of the Deckers Creek Trail and for trailhead enhancements.
