TSR Runner of the Week-Robert Hensley
By: Kayla Dodd
Congratulations to Robert Hensley on being our TSR Runner of the Week! He is relatively new to the racing community but has quickly adapted and became a very strong, competitive runner at the age of 52.
He first started getting introduced to the running community by going to the races to support his wife, who is an avid runner. He quickly started making friends in the running community and decided if he was going to get up early on Saturday mornings to go to support her that he might as well give it a try himself.
In the last couple of years he has participated in numerous trail & road races (5Ks, 10Ks, 15Ks & Half Marathons) and consistently finishes in the front with racers more than half his age. He always places first or at the very least 2nd in his age division with great overall results.
In his second year of running competitively he has managed to complete 2 Half Marathons & the very challenging Charleston Distance Run 15-Miler this year. He also completed his 3rd half marathon on Sunday, November 6th! In his very first half marathon he placed 3rd in his division & 12th overall in the Hatfield & McCoy Half Marathon, which is labeled one of America’s toughest.
He has become a very recognizable racer in which other fellow runners always commend him for his speed and tenacity. Joining the running community has brought this normally shy and reserved man to be outgoing and friendly while giving him a new found confidence in his athletic ability.
There are many more races and racing series that he has planned with his wife Teresa in the coming months. His favorite brand of running shoes is Saucony and his biggest accomplishment to date would have to be the Charleston Distance Run – 15 Miler. Robert has plans of completing a Marathon in 2017!!
Congratulations to Robert on his great accomplishments and outstanding runner achievements! Team TSR wishes him the best of luck with all of his running goals. Do you know someone who should be the TSR Runner of the Week? Comment below or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
