TSR Runner of the Week-Kristen Atkins

Congratulations to Kristen Atkins for being selected as our TSR Runner of the Week! She, like many others, always has a race on her weekend schedule! Kristen began her running journey not too long ago, in August of 2015. Her first race was the Flying Eagle 5k in Charleston, WV. She holds a current 5k PR of 31:09, but her running goal is to get under 30 minutes and maybe one day…beat her running buddy, Tammy Black, in a race!!!!
She is motivated to run because it helps to keep her healthy. Running is great exercise and is both good for the mind and body! She has several upcoming races that she is working towards, several 5k’s and an upcoming half marathon in November.
Her dream race that she would love to participate in are any of the Disney Races in Florida! These races are awesome and such fun, especially with friends. Her favorite motivational quote is, “No matter how slow you go, you are moving faster than the person on the couch.” This is so true, to me all that matters is that you get out there and get moving and give it your all!
Her best experience from running is the people that she has met. I personally see Kristen at a lot of races and she always knows someone or is making new running friends! Running truly does bring people together and sometimes drives a little competition!
Her favorite brand of running shoes are Nike and her favorite piece of running gear is her fitbit. The furthest distance that she has ran…so far…is a half marathon. Advice that she would give to a new runner is to NEVER give up. Just keep running!
Running has been instrumental in Kristen’s life and has provided overall health benefits for her and brought several new people into her life, and GREAT friends! Be on the lookout for her at your next race! We wish Kristen the best of luck on ALL of her running goals, TEAM TSR will see you at the finish line!
