By: Pat Riley

When it comes to a race, there is something to saving it for the end. Registration at the Charleston Distance Run is a different matter.

Runners and walkers can save a fair amount by signing up early for the CDR, but they must act fast. Only about a week remains to take advantage of $5 to $10 in savings, depending on the event.

The registration fee for the 15-mile race is $50 for those who register by Aug. 5. It then increases to $60 for those who register by 9 p.m. Aug. 29.

In the 5K race and the three-person, 15-mile relay, the fee is $35 for those who register by Aug. 5. The fee jumps to $45 for entrants who sign up by 9 p.m. Aug. 29.

Walkers also can save if they register soon. The registration fee for the 5K and 10K walks is $25 for those who register by Aug. 5. After that date, the registration fee for the walk is $30 for those who sign up by 9 p.m. Aug. 29.
