Charleston Distance Run Set For Saturday, Aug. 31

Charleston, W.Va.,   Aug. 26, 2013  -- With a blast from a cannon, the 41st Charleston Distance Run will start Saturday, Aug. 31, with an estimated 1,500 participants.

 

WCHS TV is a proud sponsor of the Distance Run, a capital city classic that will feature the following events:

 

Run Run for Kids -- The Fun Run for Kids begins at 6:30 p.m. Friday on Clendenin Street in front of the Charleston Town Center.

 

Free for children ages 4 through 12, the races feature three age divisions: 4 to 6, 7 to 9, and 10 to 12. Registration will be held in the Charleston Civic Center lobby from 4:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. Friday. There is no online registration for the Children\\\'s Fun Run.  Applications can be mailed in advance; they can be printed from wwwcharlestondistancerun.com.

 

CDR Registration -- Online registrations at www.charlestondistancerun.com must be completed by noon Friday. Mailed applications must be received by Friday. Registrations can be made in person from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at the Charleston Civic Center.

 

Frontier Communications   Pasta Dinner - The pasta dinner is set for 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the Charleston Civic Center.  Participants will receive a pasta dinner ticket in their goody bag. There is a $5 charge for guests.

 

Charleston Distance  Run - The Distance Run begins at 7:30 a.m. Saturday on Kanawha Boulevard across from the West Virginia Capitol. The CDR offers a 15-mile run; a three person, 15-mile relay; a 5K run; and 5K and 10K walks.
