Here's to All the Volunteers - It takes a lot of people to
put on any race. It takes a lot of people to put on something as
large as the Parkersburg News and Sentinel Half-Marathon. From what
we have heard, they did a great job.

YMCA Tests Tri-State Youth - Short story about yesterday's

Glade Springs Event a Success - A really cool story about
Dave Williams and John Dewey who traveled from North Carolina to
compete in the 1st Charlie Williamson Memorial Triathlon at The
Resort at Glade Springs. Congrats to the organizers for putting on a
successful event. Now if we could just get the results....

Track and Field begins tonight!! (Actually, that would be yesterday
for us on the east coast but we have to wait until tonight to watch
the action). As far as we know, NBC will show all Track and Field
events. Anything Track and Field related on any of the other
networks will be repeats. We will be letting everyone know what to
expect each evening. Stay tuned during the entire Olympics!!!

are talking about the Charleston Distance Run on August 30th. This
15-mile race has seen the likes of Bill Rogers and Frank Shorter in
the past.

Elite Runners Highlight Men's Field - The Parkersburg
Sentinel and News Half-Marathon is less than a week away. This truly
is a HUGE deal for the state of WV as some of the best runners from
around the world (well, those who are not in Beijing right now) will
be running in Parkersburg. So many elite runners contacted race
director, Chip Allman, that he almost had to turn some away.

Locals Gearing Up for Road Race
- The Debbie Green Memorial 5K run in Wheeling, WV brings out some of
the best runners in the northern part of WV. This article highlights
some of the runners that are expected to attend the race this weekend
(August 2nd).

5K Run Coming to Chief Logan - Looks like the Logan, WV area
will be getting a race in a couple of weeks. This is a MONEY Race for
anyone that is interested. $100 to the first place male/female, $75 for

Funny??!?? or Stupid link of the day: Beer Marathon - Little story
on some people who are trying to drink a beer a mile. The math in the
story didn't really add up. They said 30 beers. Anyway, I bet these
people would have no problem taking in gels and sports drinks during
their marathons after doing this!

This couple is entering the Parkersburg News and Sentinel Half-Marathon
on August 16th. We have heard of people running marathons in all 50
states, but no half-marathons!! Anyway, good for them!!!

Mountain State University's new XC program in Beckley, WV. He brings
many years of experience. With the dismissal of the men's XC programs at
Marshall and WVU, it is really nice to see XC starting at another school

Cabell County Middle Schools to add Cross Country - This is an
excellent opportunity to get more young people out and running! Spread
the word!

not be recent news but something not many people know about. The Paul
Ambrose trail system in Huntington, WV. The 23-mile trail system is
planning to connect the Altizer area to Ceredo-Kenova. Work on 8 miles
of the trails was supposed to begin this summer. For more information on
