The Portsmouth Elks City Club and Elks Golf Course provide our community with 2 important venues for fellowship gatherings, weddings, fund-raisers, and recreation. Each year, those venues each host dozens of fund-raisers for over 20 different local non-profit groups. Additionally, several of those fund-raisers are some of the largest in our area for their respective causes. Last year, our golf course hosted 3 golf outings per month that all combined to raise over $36,000 for local non-profits. There were several other smaller outings at the country club and city club that helped raise money too. We are also active in battling Cerebal Palsy, and contribute to the annual Thanksgiving Day dinner at the Chillicothe VA. 50% of the proceeds from this event will go toward the Chillicothe VA's Thanksgiving Dinner.
A message from Race Director, Reece Brown. It's always been a dream of mine to develop a 5K event for my Elks Lodge. Our City Club will serve as an amazing spot to coordinate registration, and provide hospitality to our runners. The course design is unique, yet very simple. Runners will get to see all of the best views that our amazing city has to offer. I'm inviting all of my fellow Shawnee State Alumni Cross Country runners, so the competition will be fierce. The cash prizes are certain to draw-out some additional amazing runners, and it will likely take a 15:30 (Male), or 18:00 (Female) to win. The course will be lined with Veteran/Active Service recognition signs, and patriotic displays throughout. It's sure to be a memorable evening in Portsmouth, so don't miss out! Let the good times roll!
