Feeding more than bellies, reaching hearts and souls through the love of Christ. In collaboration with family resource coordinators, youth service center coordinators and our community, Soul Food aims to share the love of Christ and feed children in Eastern Kentucky who would otherwise go hungry on weekends.
One in five children in the United States of America faces hunger. Through no fault of their own, children in Eastern Kentucky are going hungry. Currently, there is a lack of outreach programs collaborating with schools to provide food for these children over the weekends. Soul Food is a registered non-profit in the state of Kentucky that is currently working with local schools to help alleviate this hunger and to share the love of Christ.
Last year in eastern Kentucky, Soul Food provided 17,940 food and drink items and 1800 Christ related items to children in need of food and a savior.
If you have ever wanted to experience Eastern Kentucky's majestic scienic mountains this is a race for you. StoneCrest is a crown jewel of mining reclamation projects. It now hosts a beautiful 18 hole golf course that is ranked as one of the top courses in Kentucky along with an equinine center, soccer, baseball, and softball fields.
Yes the course is tough but so isn't life. We have all had mountains to climb and have been in the valley. This will test your will power, strength, and endurance. All experience levels are welcome..walkers, joggers, and crawlers. Everyone has their own race at their own pace to finish. When you reach the top you can say it is finished and that you have climbed your mountain whatever it means physically, mentally, or spiritually to you. You can relax enjoy the views and it's all down hill from there.
This will be a professionally chipped timed race complete with a race clock, finish arch, water stations, marked course, and a group of people who will be cheering you on. Race packet pick up and registration will start at 7:30 am on race day.
I will be posting a race map, elevation numbers, and a video soon!
