Autosomal Recessive Polycystic Kidney Disease is a rare genetic disorder occurring in approximately 1 in 20,000 children.
ARPKD affects both kidneys and the liver. Children with ARPKD have the liver abnormality called Congenital Hepatic Fibrosis. ARPKD and CHF eventually leads to enlargement of the kidneys, liver, and spleen due to the development of cysts and scarring.
We're looking forward to kicking off our Run for PKD fundraising to the Chicago Marathon with a local event - a 5K in honor of our nephew Eli who is an ARPKD superhero!
