Barboursville Winter Series 5 Miler Postponed (1 Photos)

The Barboursville Winter Series 5 Miler that was originally scheduled for this Sunday has been one week to March 1, 2015 at 2:00 PM.

It is with great thought that we have made this decision. We have consulted with many people and decided that the safest thing to do is to postpone the event for a week.

The winter storm that hit on Monday, February 16 has left most of the 5 mile course under several inches of snow. The road-ways are also still snow-covered at the Barboursville Park. The Village of Barboursville is AMAZING and they have always gone out of their way to help us, but we feel that we would be asking them to do too much to clear the entire 5 Mile path for this event. Even if they did, we still run the risk of dangerous driving and running conditions on Sunday.

We hope that this does not inconvenience you and hope to see you in better weather conditions on March 1!

Thanks and go out and get a run in! Show everyone how tough runners are!

Yes, the event is still on for Sunday. We might have to make it a 3 or 4 miler though. We will have to see how much snow melt we can get this week. I want to thank everyone for understanding. The 5 miler course uses a lot of off-road areas that do not get

Just wondering if the race is still on for this Sunday or is there still too much snow out there?

We feel really bad about postponing the event, but we have to consider the safety of all participants. We hope that the snow and ice will be gone by next week. Hope to see everyone on March 1! It will be a great time in the beautiful Barboursville Park.
