We have received word that the HealthyHuntington.org Triathlon has moved from Beach Fork State Park to Downtown Huntington. The swim will be in the Ohio River (like many other triathlons up and down the Ohio). Still no word on the courses for the run and bike though.

The Marshall Rec Center is offering a very inexpensive class that includes entry into the WV 5K Championship.

 

For only $40 for memebers and $50 for non-members, you get a 6 week class building up to the WV 5K Championship along with free entry into the WV 5K Championship.

Another Elite Runner Coming to Southern Ohio

Randy Smith, Coach of South Point High School Track and Field, was friends with the late/great Arthur Lydiard and is bring one of his greatest runners to the area on April 26 and 27 for a reception and a Track Meet. Arthur Lydiard is one of the greatest coaches who ever lived.

 

Anne Audain will be at a recpetion on April 26th and will be at a track meet at South Point High School on the 27th. She will be available to meet and chat on both evenings.

Marshall Rec Center Offering WV 5K Championship Running Class

We are proud to announce the partnership between the WV 5K Championship and the Marshall Rec Center again this year. The Marshall Rec Center will be the official training center of the WV 5K Championship.

 

Last year, over 50 first time runners trained and completed the WV 5K Championship.

 

Classes start in early May and lead up to the WV 5K Championship. Entry fee into the WV 5K Championship is included in the class.

Incredible Performances

Cabell Midland High School Boys 4x800m Relay sets a all-time WV record with a time of 7:51.89. Jacob Burcham splits a 1:50.9 800 on it. They are competing in the Taco Bell Classic in South Carolina.

 

St. Mary's High School's Maggie Drazba also set a all-time WV record last night with a blistering 4:51.88 1600m Run at Ritchie County.

 

This is going to be a high school Track and Field season to remember!

 

Jacob Burcham is back in action in the 3200m Run this evening. We will post resutls as soon as we get them!

Hopefully you have heard the name before. He won the Bobcat Hustle on March 31 with a 14:42 in Ironton, OH.

 

Every since he rocked Ironton, he has been doing some BIG things!

 

Last weekend, he won the master's race at the Carlsbad 5000 in California, then went to the Standford Invite (Both are very elite events) and dropped a 28:57 10K. That is 2 14:28 5Ks! This time qualifies him for the Olympic Trials this June in Eugene, Oregon!

 

He was only 37 seconds off of a world record for master runners!
