JOHN DAVIS FINISHES LEADVILLE 100!!!
He has won the Marshall Marathon a couple of times! Now he has taken on and finished the hardest ultra-marathon in the world, the Leadville 100!! This race is featured in the book "Born To Run". This isn't only a 100 mile race, it is a 100 MILE RACE AT 10,000 FEET!!!!!
I received this text from him early today:
"Got carried to the motel and laid in the floor for several hours screaming in pain!
Been up about 40 hours!
You can come to the ER and see a nurse with scrubs and a belt buckle over top of them on WEDNESDAY!!!"

Parkersburg Half Marathon
Note: There were a BUNCH of Kenyans in this race and I won't even try to spell their names (Or would you or I know who I am talking about) so we will focus on the WV finishers!
Congrats to Brian Floyd of Washington, WV (1:17:17) for being the 1st WV finisher. Jason Pyles and recent St. Albans HS graduate Caleb Ellis ran together to go 2 and 3 for WV with a time of 1:17:37 and 1:17:38 respectively.
On the ladies side, recent WVU grad and All-American Clara Grandt was the 1st WV finisher for the women with a time of 1:18:45. 2010 WV 5K Championship winner Sami Harris was the 2nd WV finisher with a time of 1:26:57!

Congrats to 2010 WV 5K Champion Eric Putnam (15:29) and Kasey Hosier (18:39) for their individual wins yesterday in Portsmouth, OH!

Local Youth Athlete Compete in Junior Olympics
Samuel Thomas of Charleston finished 8th (10:45) nationally in the 3000m and 15th nationally in the 1500m (5:03). These are very exceptional times for someone so young! Great job to Samuel!! Samuel will be a 6th grader at Horace Mann Middle School this fall.
